"hoping to delete all the evidence" is the 6th installment in a poetic short film series of poetry from my recently published book, "returning home." (Available now on Amazon). this piece addresses the toxic mindsets around aging and youth. it talks about how much harm is caused by the ever-present programming forcing society to adhere to standards that are detrimental to our health - our emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing. it talks about how easy it is to conform to standards, even after seeing and knowing the dangers. so with this, I'm not advocating for or against face or makeup products. I use them as well. However, I am advocating for the cease of ridiculing and/or shaming people as they grow and show signs of age. it's normal. or at least, it should be. we are often so unaware of what a privilege it is to be able to age. to grow old. to be wrinkled. so many don't get the chance. thank you for reading. I love you.

"escape from self." is my 5th installment in a poe

"escape from self." is my 5th installment in a poetic short film series of poetry from my recently published book, "returning home." (Available now on Amazon - Lïnk in bïo). "escape from self" talks about trauma and how it resulted me fostering a deep distrust of myself and a dissociation from my body. I don't believe this experience is talked about enough - the feeling of not only helplessness, but disconnect. because when you can't feel yourself, when you can't ground yourself in your body, it causes so much damage. It causes you to make so many choices that destroy yourself and the world around you. so here is a film dedicated to that feeling.

In case you’re in the mood for unsolicited advice, I have some for you: prioritize your happiness, your joy, your excitement. Times are changing so rapidly and so completely, that the one constant right now is you. In a few years, the things that you do now to make money and to live freely will change. Working in spaces that drain you and create a sense of hopelessness will no longer be sustainable - not physically and most definitely not financially. We are in a new world, even if you don’t quite feel it yet. The energy is morphing into something uncharted.

Eventually, the only way you’ll be able to move forward is through complete and total joy. Practice now by chasing your happiness. Take a chance on yourself. You deserve it.

“moon square saturn.” This is a poem from my r

“moon square saturn.”
This is a poem from my recently published book “returning home.” Available now on Amazon.
In Astrology, the Moon represents emotions and Saturn represents restriction, hardship, struggle. In my birth chart, I have a square between my moon and saturn. This is the aspect I identified as being an indicator for my own manic depressive diagnosis. Though this can be shown through other aspects in a birth chart, having a square between these two astrological bodies natally shows a tendency to feel emotionally burdened. This aspect single handedly woke me up to the reason I was experiencing such strong emotional downturns as often as I did. So, I decided to write a poem to honor those feelings and then, create a short film to go with it. “moon square saturn” is the fourth in a series of Poetic Short Films (along with Control, Windows, and Faces) that are from poems in my book, “returning home.” Thank you for watching and reading. It's my birthday again and I published two books (in biõ) - more info below. 🌸✨🥰 I haven't posted here in about two years. For a while after taking a break, I isolated myself thinking social media was the enemy - that it's evil and draining…and it can be. But I realized I gave it way too much power over me. I think we spend so much time on here, we think it'll break us to not be seen. We fear being dragged or canceled, so we tiptoe. We fear being ignored so we pose in just the right way. We fear being considered ugly or unimportant. And maybe, all these fears were just mine - just my reasons for walking away. And I'm fine with that. Out of the period of isolation - through a thriving and failing business, and through starting it back up and trying again anyway - I realize it's 1: so much easier to take your fails in private and 2: so much harder not to share in celebrating wins.

My period of isolation was deeply personal and I started to feel like I was disconnected from life. But through all of that, I did something amazing. I wrote and published not one, but two books books of poetry and prose (in biõ) The first, published last year, is "lovely, deadly, black." Eight years in the making, LDB talks about my journey with learning how to speak up about love, mental health/trauma, and blackness. My second book, published TODAY (🎉) "returning home" talks about my healing journey through the rooms of a home. It's about how I chose to return back to myself. I'm immensely proud of both of these works as they talk about both my failures and my wins. Balance. And as a true Libra, I promote nothing if not balance 😂
